Many Mavic drone users are facing issue in playing their 5.1K video with 50 FPS recorded video Not playing on iMac and in QuickTime , Lyn. The issue is only video recorded in for 5.1K D-Log video encoded with H.264 and seen on macOS Ventura, Sonoma 14.1 & FCP 10.6.10
Even for short MP4 drone footage on DJI Mavic 3 Pro with DLOG-M and DLOG, the exported video is not loading on Final Cut X and just shows black blank video.
Same thing is happening while trying to open in QuickTime while opening Mavic DJI video and it gives an error message saying the file could not be opened and “The file isn’t compatible with QuickTime Player”
Some users reported that they are able to transcode the footage in Adobe Media Encoder and Handbrake but it is not an acceptable solution.
This could be limitation with the iMac, Macbook Pro as 5,1K 50fps video will put a lot more strain on your computer than 1080P or even 4K (depending on fps though).
As a workaround you can also use video editing software and export to 5.1K with 70% compression. Also export the mp4 file downgraded to 4K with compression. If still that does not work try export downgraded to 1080p mp4.
However we recommend you to get in touch with customer care of Apple and Mavic for latest update of this issue fix.
